Cathedral Wine & Liquor Introduce

Looking for a "liquor store near me" in the Upper West Side area of New York City? Cathedral Wine & Liquor is located at 301 Cathedral Pkwy #1, New York, NY 10026. Based on recent customer reviews, while the store's appearance is appreciated, there are serious concerns regarding its customer service and policies.

Several customers have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the customer service at Cathedral Wine & Liquor. One reviewer, a small business owner, noted that despite the store being "beautiful and pristine," their experiences with the customer service have been "just HORRIBLE." They described the staff at the desk as inattentive, often engaged in their own conversations and not paying attention to customer requests, subsequently blaming the customer for not speaking up earlier. This reviewer, who lives only a block away and visits approximately twice a week, also reported repeated difficulties with delivery, including a recent refusal, and an apparent lack of recognition despite being a regular customer since the store opened. This has led them to feel that their business is not wanted and to consider patronizing a less aesthetically pleasing but friendlier store on Lenox Avenue.

Another customer, who used to buy wine at Cathedral Wine weekly, shared a negative experience regarding a return or exchange. After their wife purchased two bottles they did not like, the customer went to the store with the wife's credit card to exchange them for two different bottles. The staff member behind the counter reportedly refused the exchange without any explanation, simply appearing unwilling to assist. This negative treatment of a regular customer has led them to cease spending money at Cathedral Wine & Liquor and recommend The Winery on 116th & Frederick Douglass as a far superior alternative.

The provided reviews consistently highlight severe issues with customer service, including inattentiveness, unhelpfulness, delivery problems, and a rigid no-exchange policy, even for regular customers. While the store's appearance is noted positively, these service-related issues appear to create an uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment for shoppers. No information about the store's selection, other services, features, or any promotional information is available from these reviews.

For inquiries, you can contact Cathedral Wine & Liquor at (212) 665-4700 or their mobile number +1 212-665-4700. However, based on the recent feedback, customers should be aware of the significant concerns regarding poor customer service and restrictive policies.

If you are a local resident of Taiwan searching for a liquor store while visiting or residing in the Upper West Side of New York, Cathedral Wine & Liquor might appear appealing due to its described beautiful environment. However, please be strongly advised to consider the overwhelming negative feedback regarding extremely poor customer service, including inattentive and unhelpful staff, delivery problems even for nearby residents, a strict no-exchange policy, and a lack of recognition for regular customers, leading to an uncomfortable shopping experience. It would be prudent to consider alternative liquor stores in the area that have received more positive feedback regarding customer service and policies. We recommend contacting the store directly for any specific inquiries, but to also be aware of the serious concerns raised in the available reviews.

I dislike leaving poor reviews, I am a small business owner and recognize that everyone has a bad day. However this is perhaps my 3rd or 4th bad experience with this store and it is such a shame. The store is beautiful and prestine, however the customer service is just HORRIBLE. The ladies at the desk could care less about their customers, they are usually laughing and talking amongst themselves, not paying attention to your request then blaming you for not telling them earlier. I have also had trouble on numerous occasions trying to order from the store even though I live only one Avenue block away. They always give me a hard time and the last time refused to deliver.. Fine, I now walk the block myself. But still.. It is though they do not want my business even though I come to the store proximately twice a week. Additionally they never seem to recognize me even though I have been coming there for they’ve been open. I think I will go to the store on Lenox even though it is not as nice of store.. however at least I am treated kindly by the clerk.. This place makes you feel so uncomfortable, you don’t want to come back and I don’t think I ever will.

We used to buy wine at Cathedral Wine at least once a week. Yesterday my wife bought two bottles I didn't like, so today I went there with her credit card and asked to exchange them for another two bottles. The guy behind the counter refused to do it. No explanation, nothing, just could not be bothered. I dislike leaving negative reviews to small neighborhood businesses, but the way they treated a regular customer just strikes a nerve. I won't be spending my money there anymore. The Winery on 116 & Frederick Douglass offers a far superior wine buying experience.

BEWARE They will add a dollar to pay by card, and they will try to add it even if you pay by cash too, so if you have to go here always *always* check your bill before paying. NB: bottles here are already more expensive than in other local stores, everything is apparently marked up as a policy. Walk a couple of blocks or get ripped off - great store on 116, The Winery - plenty of other local options that don’t do this.

I was reading the review .I think I was in the store when the gentleman ask for burgundy wine indeed the the two young ladies offered no help.I gave a 2 star because I'm hoping the nicer staff was off and will return. I always get my wine from here and I come from uptown. The same day I ask the young lady for a wine of which you did not have but she offered a similar bubbly yet did not come from behind the counter to show me what she was talking about. Also when I was checking out she spoke to me as if I were a child telling me where the register was.I clearly could she where it was. I was trying to follow social distance in case she couldn't tell.Bring the nice staff back.

They will add on a credit card fee even if you’re about to pay with cash. I caught the cashier at it this evening and he removed the excess charge. Price labels on the shelves do not correspond to the actual prices of the bottles. What you may think is an $11 bottle of wine may actually turn out to be $15 or $16. Exercise caution when buying in the store.
